Online Box

On what equipment does it run ? How many songs do you have ? Did you have to tweak anything in order to get the program up&running ?
Leave some feedback here.

I'm using Ampjuke on my web server :)

300 gig
3TB of transfer (got plenty of stuff :D)

http://music.gotalkaboutit.com

I plan on uploading around 15,000 songs and letting people only stream them - no downloads (obviously breaking the law if they can download..).

Lemme know what you think, I will be creating MANY skins and also sharing them in the near future!

Cool

Hi Brad,

That sounds absolutely cool...
Just visited your site (and listened to Evanescene) - great - the site is responding very fast (at least here at my current location)

I dunno about the 'legal' stuff though - but don't wanna be a showstopper for your project

Look forward to see some skins later :D

Michael,

I'm glad you like! I'm loving it so far. I stopped uploading songs and started reading on legality of everything. So far I think I'm good, and I even contacted my host about it. They don't think it's an issue, so for now I will leave as is until I get in contact with some others :) The skins are coming along pretty slowly, I didn't realize how busy I am. There will be one, or two, VERY soon though!

I'm also glad the site responds quickly, that was a main concern of mine with all the listing of the playlists.

Do you think that my project/site is illegal? Most of the songs are just ripped from CDs that I actually own (amazing, huh?), but I don't know if that is better or worse :?

Thanks again!

Brad,

My intention was not to scare you from doing this.
Not under any circumstance.

I've been in contact from time to time with persons who are using AmpJuke to host music for friends, family, neighbours, class mates, co-workers, whatever.
There's even a church community (:!:) in USA who is using AmpJuke... almost added "...God only knows for what..." to the last sentence...LOL...sorry, it's just my twisted humor - didn't mean to offend anyone.
So far, I haven't heard about any legal 'issues' from anybody.

A close friend of mine is hosting >20000 tracks using AmpJuke, mainly for his rather large family. I'm 100% sure he haven't had any "issues" so far.
I'm letting others access my AmpJuke box whenever friends and/or family ask for it, - f.ex. to have some party music - it's easier compared to driving there with a bunch of CD's, the old 12" vinyl records and a turntable

Some people who are using AmpJuke, are asking for a 'self-registration' feature, - I (don't) wonder why...
By the way: Self registration will be an optional/configurable feature in a future release.

Hey - all my stuff is ripped from CD's and vinyl as well (just like you: my own) so I cannot remember when I actually popped a CD into the player the last time....certainly not in 2007....apart from in the car, of course.

Hell...the net is full of 'gray' stuff: Ezmo, Italo music (if you like that), even a music search engine where you can lookup+play music (and download it, if you know how), there's The Pirate Bay, and of course the 'good old' filesharing programs (pick any, and knock yourself out).

My point is, with all of the above stuff in mind, I'm sure that your project - legal or not, I'm not the one to judge - is way, way below the "radar" of whoever (well...we know who) is looking for the next fight against 'filesharing' sites (if http://music.gotalkaboutit.com should ever fall into that category).

//Michael.

P.S. And yes: Your site is certainly very fast when accessed here from a "standard" (not major, not minor) ISP in Denmark (I have "reliable" 4Mb down/1Mb up), - and I don't even live in (or near) a major city.

PStarTV1,

You need an audio codec, check out free-codecs.com and download KLite Codec Pack OR Ace MEGA Pack. I've found these two to have the best video and audio codecs. Codecs are basically drivers for sound.

Hope that helps!

Hello Group
I am using my JukeBox as a Motown Oldies Spot I think after 20 years copyright is over for songs unless it is renewed. it's running great. I can't put my url here I think it is against the rule

Well...in this particular/exact thread and as long as it's related to where you're using AmpJuke, you're not breaking any rules.

Bandwidth

Postby PstarTV1 on 30-11-2007 07:44

I would love to have visitor to scream my music but that takes a lot of
Bandwidth. although I host website I can play around with my Bandwidth but not for long. you had another post about screaming from your local files. that would help the Bandwidth issue.
